Hi everyone, this is my first post so hello to you all.
I'm about to upgrade from my Dell Dimension 2350 and need a system to run mainly strategy games like the Total War series, Civilization, maybe the odd shooter. Everything else the PC is needed for is general stuff, Excel etc.
I've pretty much made up my mind on the system below but thought I might get an objective opinion before laying out the hard earned cash.

- AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ Dual Core
- 4GB DDR2-800 High Performance RAM
- 500GB SATA2 Hard Drive
- 18x Dual Layer DVD Burner
- Viewsonic 22" Widescreen HD LCD
- Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 320MB DDR3
- ASUS / Gigabyte SLi Mainboard
- 7.1 Channel EAX HD Audio
- Coolermaster Centurion Case w/ PSU
- Logitech LX710 Laser Wireless Desktop Set
- Logitech / Creative 5.1 speakers w/ subwoofer
- Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Glen

Great stuff. Everything looks good. Are you getting 1x4GB or 2x2GB RAM?

Also a specific mobo would help.

Thanks for the info. Now I don't know if it's 1x4GB or 2x2GB.

I'd get the 2x2GB if I were you. That way, you'll have two empty RAM slots for future upgrades (although 4GB is a lot!)

Motherboard..of course. Sorry DannyBoy. I thought this was the mobo..
ASUS / Gigabyte SLi Mainboard...have to admit ignorance on mobos..I'll find out more.

Good advice about the RAM thanks.

George this is a system from my local computer store. For under $2500.00 Australian this is an excellent buy. I've searched for weeks now and it's basically come down to this one system.

Thanks for the input guys.
