I'm on a $2,000 budget for my college rig (printer and all) and this is what I've come up with...

Any advice would be VERY much appreciated... One thing I'm not too sure about is the ram I'm buying. Is 4gigs worth it? Or would it just be better to get 2gigs of really good stuff?

Edit: forgot to mention that this is supposed to be a pretty intense gaming rig...

It looks pretty good. The RAM is good. 2x2GB is great for keeping slots open for future upgrades. (Although 4GB is a lot you wouldn't need to upgrade for a long time anyway).

I'd get a different motherboard since its going to be a gaming rig. I'd go ahead and get the 680i or 650i at worst.

I'd also get a different monitor. For 25 dollars more, you can get the samsung 226bw. It's worth the extra cash.

Other than that it looks very good. I'm sure you'll have hours of fun. (You sure did pick up an expensive mouse pad [~$13]! I don't even use a mouse pad on my optical mouse. They perform better than with a pad.

I've taken some advice from all over... I purchased my chassis and monitor from other sources which saved me some good moolah. Now I have about $150 extra on my budget. Any idea what I should spend it on? The wish list is updated.

I like the gigabyte P35 boards... I decided to keep it despite a few suggestions not to.

I've also never been a huge OCer... I plan on OCing my mem to 900mhz 4-4-4-12 and my proc to 2.67 so I don't feel bad about not getting the E6700 but that's about it. ;P
