Hi all,

I have a 754 Athlon 64 2800 1.8ghz 512kb L2 cache NewCastle, I'm going to be upgrading to a 3200 2.2Ghz 512kb L2 cache Venice as this is the best deal I can find for the money I have to spend on this upgrade, but I have a question about a Newark Mobile Athlon.

I have seen a good deal on a Athlon 64 3700+ M 2.4Ghz 1mb L2 cache Newark 754 which comes with a low profile cooler master fan , now this is a mobile CPU it states this, its brand new etc, I am not going to buy this CPU as I know nothing about a Mobile CPU and the downsides to them, but if someone can tell me if it would be worth getting as a upgrade then I might go for it, but what are the downsides to this Mobile CPU in a desktop?, are there big disadvantages or less lifetime etc or are there advantages ?

My mobo is a Asrock K8S8X

Best Regards

I doubt you will notice much if any of a performance increase with the upgrade your going with. (3200 Venice)

I got the upgrade and wow, there is quite a improvement, its quite a bit faster tbh, just like i thought it would be, some other guy on some other forums said i wont notice much of a difference, what a load of bull lol.

I got a P4 3.8ghz with 2gbram for my girlfriend to use, the Athlon 64 2800 is 2 times faster then the P4,now this 3200 tottaly owns it just a bit more !!
