We have a lot of great folks on these forums, and I appreciate each and every one of you. The way you all help each other, and assist newcomers to the forums is a great sight to behold.

While not wanting to diminish the contributions of any other member of the forums, I want to take this opportunity to express my personal thanks and gratitude to Paleo Pete. He has spent so much time and effort answering questions and helping with the forums. Without his assistance, many dozens of questions and requests here would go unanswered. Since he is on the forums more often than I am, he has also reported problems I would otherwise not notice.

In recognition of his tireless service, and timed to coincide with his reaching the "Master Geek" level, Paleo Pete has been given a
complimentary PC Guide Disk Edition CD-ROM, and made the first Moderator of The PC Guide Discussion Forums. His role will be to assist me in managing the forums, and he will have the authority to move postings that are placed in the wrong forum, to edit postings, or to delete postings that are not appropriate to the forums at all. Technical problems should still be addressed to me either here online or by email.

Note that as the forums continue to grow, I will be considering other frequent contributors for moderator positions, if they are interested.

Thanks again to Paleo Pete and to you all. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well, what can I say besides thanks, and I hope I can do well...

We have several others here who are very knowledgable, and I am with Charles in saying thank you all for your help. Keep it up folks, for the most part you're all doing a great job.

Oh, and thanks bunches for the CD Charles, I've been browsing through it a lot, tons of good info, and also now know about lots of things that are in the PC Guide to point people to when they have questions.

This will be a challenge, I hope I'm up to it, but I'll try to do my best.

"Well, what can I say besides thanks, and I hope I can do well..."

I'm afraid that itís too late Paleo Pete.

What do I mean? Well u don't have to worry about "doing well" (future tense) as u already have done "very well" (past tense). Very, very well in fact. And I'm as sure as eggs is eggs that u will continue to do "very, very well" (present tense-sort of). There u go, past, present & future all wrapped up in one. Always knew that I was clever, just needed the opportunity to prove it.

Just cruising by, aboard the good ship "The Land Down Under", when I heard the news of your appointment & commendation from Captain Charles of the good ship "The PC Guide". So immediately weighed anchor & climbed aboard to say hullo, scull a drop of the good old rum with u all & add a hearty "here, here" to your promotion.

Now for that rum...letís all raise our glasses & down our beverage of choice (basically rum, rum, or rum-after all your at sea now u know) in a toast to First Officer Paleo Pete & Captain Charles, who had the wisdom to choose him. May u stay well, live long & prosper. And ofcourse, most importantly, never, never forget just which island it was that u buried that hidden treasure on.

Cheers.......Son of Zeus.

P.S.
will729, good try old chap. But I think you'll have to try a little harder than that. Then again, as they say, stranger things have happened at sea. And like all those that go down to the sea in ships I say good luck young sailor lad & beware the ides of March.

From one of the new guys here...

Accolades are in deed in order to Paleo Pete and others who take their valuable time to reply to the many messages posted here. You folks cut my research time down a great deal. Help me when I've been stuck and as a new guy, this happens a lot. You have been a great learning resource based on you own experience and knowledge.

Congrats Paleo. I stepped away for High School football season, only getting her once every couple weeks during the season, and I come back, you have 900 posts and have lots of symbols, and I think to myself, why oh why do I have to love football so much. Paleo, you are the man though, and I only wish I had stuck with this forum full time now, I think I will have to come back and see if I can learn a thing or too.

Maybe with 1200+ people, we might finds some linux users to assist me setting up my Mandrake 7.1 box, or some KSH unix emulation users.... I doubt it, but I can pray. Well, I am off to catch up on all the threads I missed. Hopefully I am back for good now, State finals for high school football is almost here, after that, i have most the year to concentrate on my computers alone.

Welcome back Redd! And thanks.

Wondered where you'd gotten off to, hadn't seen you around in a while, and sure did wish you'd pop in a few times when we had questions about connection problems that were right up your alley...You have dial up connection info in your head I have to search 20 minutes to dig up. Not to mention some good ideas in other areas...glad to have ya back.

Joe! Welcome back indeed! It's great to see you. Out of respect for individuals' choices regarding the forum, I've decided not to send email to regulars who go away, but I do feel sad when you guys disappear. It's nice to have you back. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
