On my backup computer I installed Win xp sp2. I have to shut off with the power button instead of os. I think there is a setting in the bios to correct this but I could be wrong. Any suggestions?

What happens when you attempt to shut down through the OS? Nothing at all?

Sounds like the chipset drivers need to be installed.
Your most likely missing the ACPI support

Is Power Management enabled in the BIOS Setup?

Power Management was enabled in bios but apm wasnt activated in windows power management. I activated it and it works now.Thank you very much for your help.
