I wanted to take a minute or three and say thank you to all the good folks on this forum who have been donating their time and knowledge and trying their best to help out.

We've had a debate or two and a disagreement here and there, but in general the forums have been running along smoothly with minimal interference from the old bald fart that's somehow managed to become moderator...

I check through every new post every day, and find plenty excellent suggestions and info posted by several of the people who participate on a regular basis...xor-chad, bassvax, scada, Redd Dogg, Reid, Big Blue and others, I can't remember all the names offhand...so don't feel left out...

I also find I can often leave topics and let others handle them, and you folks always do a great job. That's really nice when I don't have a lot of time on my hands.

So...thanks a bunch folks, this forum is becoming one of the best places on the net for competent computer assistance, and that can only happen with a great crew like we have here...keep up the good work!

By the way, we're also accumulating enough topics with excellent answers it's now possible to often simply refer back to another topic, which makes things easier on everyone. The search box is becoming more useful every day...

Dear Pete,

We should be thanking you...
I've been at this pc thing for about a year now and I just want to tell you that you've made my experience with this dam computer just about the most interesting project of my entire life. Because of You, I've had the courage to do more with my computer than I ever thought possible! Quit your day job and write a book or two if your haven't allready...

Thanks Again

Day job? What day job?

Thanks a lot for the compliments, don't know what else to say...

Soon as I finish rebuilding my transmission I'll start looking for a day job. Living 25-30 miles from the nearest place to find one, and there it's only a very slim chance, it's not easy to talk anyone into hiring someone who can't get to work and back. And of course the transmission chewed a couple of gears less than 2 months after I got the van. I finally managed to get the parts to rebuild it, but not without the much appreciated financial assistance of my sister. It should be finished in a day or 3, and a week or so till it's installed. Weather permitting...Then I'll have to head out of town to find a job, already tried here, can't get a computer shop to talk to me. All full to the brim with techs.

Write a book? No way!! Better books have already been written than I could ever come up with, and better techs offer advice here every day. I simply have the links, books and ability to look up info when often I have no idea what the solution to a problem is. I read the books, not write them...about the limit of my writing will be my webpage.

My computer expertise stems from my lifelong conviction that I can always learn. I never turned on a computer till I was 38 or 39 years old, I'm now 45 and have learned how to build and repair them in the past 2-3 years. Some of these guys have worked as techs since before I ever turned a computer on!

That's why I posted this topic, their knowledge and assistance is invaluable, and I wanted them to know that. I'm not moderator here because I know anywhere near everything, (I certainly don't, not even close) but because I was one of the original techs who stayed and helped out when the forums first got going, and did my best to help create the reputation the PC Guide forums now have as a reliable and friendly source of assistance.

As moderator I do my best to insure that reputation remains intact, and do the one thing no employer has ever done for me. Let the others know they are appreciated when they do a great job.

Thanks again for the compliments, but I feel several others here deserve thanks and compliments as well. So again, thanks to all.

Wow, OUTSTANDING site, kudos to all who are involved! (I stumbled across PC Guide while doing a search for "motherboard parts".)
