Windows Live Messenger

When I click on the W/L/Messenger icon on my desktop, I get a message that says "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000034) Click on OK to terminate the application". Iv'e reinstalled it again but same thing happens.

Do you have McAfee Anit Virus installed on your system currently?

Had you by chance updated windows i.e. with Service Pack 2 before you started experiencing this problem?

I did a little bit of perusing of teh intarwebs and the consensus seems to be that it has to do with the .NET framework.
