Opera? Wow I have never heard of it...but by following the link I see it's a new Browser. Is this something that you would recommend over IE or Netscape? Does it have updates or service packs that can be downloaded? I'm just curious if I should make the leap.
Thanks for the info http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

You DONT have to make a "Leap" at all.....you can just install it as a 2nd or 3rd browser and NOT make it the "DEFAULT" browser. It is real fast for text browsing esp.....not quite as FANCY as Netscape or Explorer; however, it is about 1/8 the size http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Fancy? Not sure what you mean. Feature-rich? It definitely is. Once you get accustomed to Opera's *many* features the other two seem so limited. The idea that Opera is somehow a "lesser" browser than IE or Netscape is nonsense.
Opera has an *excellent* implementation of CSS and is very light on memory usage compared to the others.
It's been my default browser for about 2 years. I paid for it after a week.

thanks
edit: is it like IE?? in other words should I get an 'older' version 1st that is known to work trouble free as you say yours is?? or get the new one.. (using Test Run-*everything*- goes through Test Run 1st these days)....

Get the latest and greatest v. 5.10.
You'll see there's two downloads: one includes a Java plugin, the other doesn't. The non-java version is around 2mb to download. Both downloads are the *same* Opera browser, just that one download also includes the Sun Java plugin.
You can add Java later if you want by downloading the Sun Java plugin separately. I can dig up a link if need be...
Note this is Java, *not* Javascript. Both "non-Java" and "Java" downloads of Opera include support for *Javascript*.

Sorry there Sled.......I dont share the same degree of enthusiasm for Opera as you....I think it is well worth having.....but I usually end up using Explorer 5.5 the most. I guess it's one of those "To each his own" kinda deals.
