Hello everyone,
I purchased a Computer from Cyber Power Systems a few years ago and surprisingly it wasn't until only a few days ago that I actually needed to reformat my computer for the first time.
I was sifting through my CDs which I received with my computer and found a restore CD. After going through the whole reformatting process, it doesn't seem like the restore CD did what it should do, restore my computer to factory settings.. My computer just simply reformatted as if I reformatted any other computer.
I disregarded this and continued manually installing drivers (with the CD's that were also provided by Cyber Power- NVIDIA nForce4 motherboard, Audigy2zs installation and applications, and XFX) and restoring my old programs. I'm not too computer savvy so I wasn't able to get my computer the way it was pre-reformatting (which disappointed me); however, I did get it back to "normal."
After re-installing my somewhat graphics intensive games I realized that my computer wasn't functioning properly at all and within 2-3 minutes of playing every game, it would freeze. So.. I figured I had done something wrong along the way and decided to update my BIOS, which didn't help at all and only gave me an error at my intro screen pertaining to how my fan could possibly fail.
Here are the questions I was pretty much getting at:
1) (I'm in the process of reformatting again) Why didn't the restore CD Cyber Power provided me with restore my settings, what might I be doing wrong?
2) Will reformatting revert my BIOS to its pre-existing state? If not, how can I do so?
3) How would I be able to fix my problem with games/anything thats even somewhat graphics intensive?
My motherboard : (939-pin Socket) ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset MB
CPU : (939-pin) AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU w/ Hyper Transport Technology
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
Thanks in advance, I appreciate it
