I would like to boot my computer from a disc for which I have the image. My problem is that I don't have access to a CD-writer right now - it would be ideal if I could write the disc to a HD partition and boot from that. Is this possible - to "burn" a disc image to a partition, and let it think it's running from a disc? I know it can be done with programs like Alcohol 120% but the problem is that I need to ''boot'' from this image. (Posted on Science because Computer Desk isn't accepting my edit)

You have to have booted for Alcohol to run, so I don't think you'll be able to, at least not with Alcohol.
What disc are you trying to boot with, exactly?

If the image is an image or iso of a CD then you wont be able to boot to it when copied to a hard drive. Nor would you be able to boot to it on a CD unless the image had been burned as an image and not as a file to the CD.
If the image is an image of a HDD partition then you may well be able to boot to it.
