PLEASE accept my humblest of apologies, it was NOT my intention to quote these references without due notification of origination. I can offer NO excuses for my sloppiness, there is an edit key. Once again please accept my apology and keep up the good work.

I hate to do this when someone is offering an apology for any reason, but if you bother to read the pink section of the page where you posted this message it specifically states that the Announcements forum is for Administrative use only. Do not post in the Announcements forum again, I'm not sure where this one should have gone, possibly PC World or Suggestion Box...
I feel an explanation is in order:
Charles/Ixl has requested that I take a zero tolerance approach to new topics created in this forum, resulting from a recent topic that was basically insulting to us all, and has now been deleted. I fully intend to comply with that request.
Again, I apologize for throwing a wet blanket on your apology, but the bottom line is the Announcements forum is strictly for Administrative use. That means if your user name is not Ixl or Paleo Pete do NOT post a new topic here. You will receive a response similar to this one no matter what the reason for the post.
muckshifter: Thank you for belatedly posting the source of your information, that is certainly appreciated. I've used the PC Guide as a resource for 4 years, and provided links to it in other forums many times myself. I like it when I see the site quoted or referenced elsewhere, it shows confidence in the accuracy and integrity of the work Charles has put into making it one of the best computer related resources on the net. It's popping up more all the time on other sites, magazines, search engines, and I understand some colleges recommend it as a resource for their students.
I'm sure your reference to the site in another forum will bring more readers to the site and participants to the forums. That is a good thing, but please pay attention to the Tips section of any category of the forums you post in. Usually it will explain the topics covered by that category, and this particular one specifically requests that users do not post new topics. In bold text...now that it's done and too late, responders to this topic will not be scorned or chastised. Provided those responses maintain the same attitude and professionalism expected in any other section of the forums.

Hate to cause a problem or add to one but Pete where at the start of the Admin section does it say not to post here? Mine says anyone is free to post here.
New Topics: All registered users may post new topics in this forum.
Replies: All registered users may post replies in this forum.
I have read the section where it said that the Announcement section was for Admin only but new readers may not have been there. Can't we put something in the Announcement description that tells peeps not to post here? Maybe this should have gone to the suggestion section but I thought it would be welcomed here. Congrats to all on the great work you are all doing to grow the site and knowledge everywhere.

biggmc01Click the New Topic link above or below this one and read the Tips For Success section on that page. Each category of the forum has a similar section, normally with some hints on what type of questions should go there, etc.
