Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem and it's a thorn in my side. I've completely purchased all the pieces of my new system however I'm having trouble with going off newegg for the harddrive. This is what I want, RAID 0 with 4 identical drives in the amount of 1 TB (4x250). My problem is, how do I purchase this...4 individual 7200 rpm 250 GB drives? Any advice would be helpful, if all else fails I'll just go 150 GB raptor although I wouldnt be as content with it. Thanks guys, all help is appreciated.

You could buy 4 X 250GB drives or 2 X 500GB drives either configuration would be a 1TB RAID-0 array.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $64.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144701) X 4 = $259.96

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $109.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073) X 2 = $219.98

If you go with 2 drives you save $40.00 and they would use less power then 4 drives

I agree with rond on going with 2x500GB. Also it will leave you with more room to upgrade in the future, less heat inside the case, and less of a chance of a failure with only two drives as opposed to four.

or you could try 2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136131 ;)

that would b 1.5tb in 2 hdds for $400!! :D ur other thread has lots of money in it! so why not have tons more space? u see that 2x 500gb would not quiet b 1tb but a bit less cuz of translation (2^30 vs 10^3) so with 2x 750gb u r covered! :D or for same $400 or around that price, i didnt check, you could have your 2x raptors which would be insane raid 0 perfromance1!!!

of course u will have to see what is $$$ worth to you for all these hdds. solid-state hdds are coming soon too! have to check out performance when they come out!! probebaly very good compared to platters if raw bandwidth is increased on current models - only avalable for 2.5" and 1.8" now. but some time u will have to draw a line for your $$$! cant keep going up and up and up forever! ;)
