Im going to sell my 7950gt to a friend (im getting my 8800gtx :D) as you know its PCI x16 will it work in an AGP slot at x8. heres the MOBO he has http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=12&l3=243&l4=0&model=942&modelmenu=1

also if the MOBO does not support the GPU can you get a MOBO that supports socket 478 and DDR 400 aswell as PCI x16

NO

PCI and AGP are not compatible

They are different slots,

According to your link

Intel FSB800 and Hyper-Threading Technology
Dual-Channel DDR400
AGP8X/PCI-E Dual-VGA interface Support

That M/B has BOTH agp and PCI-e slots
So it can use either

So yes in that case it will work
