CD burner not working

The CD burner on my 6 y/o pc stopped working a few months ago. I sent for a new one, installed it, burned a random pic on a CD to test it (it worked) and I haven't used it since. Tonight I tried to burn some music on a CD with Yahoo! Music Jukebox and I got the same message I got when trying to burn with my old burner, "Please insert a blank CD into the drive". I then tried burning a picture to the CD by right clicking one on my desktop and sending it to 'CD-RW Drive (E)' and I'm still getting the same message.

Please tell me there is a simple solution to this and this drive isn't bad already.

Please ignore this thread. I was putting DVD-R discs in the drive. :eek:

And to 'shtink' I was trying to come up with some sort of procedures to help eliminate or at least help you find your problem... ;)

Considering you got your problem solved on your own, have you checked our classified ads, under 'Help Wanted'? :p

It's a good one to be reminded about and can happen with just trying to read DVDs in CD drives as well as write to them. Took me a good 20 minutes once trying to troubleshoot a system when that's all the problem was.
