Hello! I'm having problems with my moniter. Whenever I start my computer, the fan sounds like it's working really hard and the screen flashes "Input signal out of range." Sometimes the moniter will go into idle or will freeze up.

I don't know what to do. Is it a cable? Do I need a new video card? Will I lose the memory on my HD?

Thank you. :(

EDIT: Now it doesn't even want to start up. :\

Well, at least we can be reasonably sure your monitor is not broken! :D

Sounds like a core component died in your computer. Or it badly needs some service (dust?). We'd need more info to know for certain, but I would avoid trying to turn it on any more. In fact, you may want to unplug everything for now. The good news is that your hard drive and all your information are probably still good. As long as you don't touch it or let a young family member mess with it :p your data should stay fine.
