really... no l2 cache i have never heard that before i know in the beginning computer didnt have an internal cache L1 (on the processor) but they always as far as i can remmember hac an l2 cache(on the mother board near the processor)...... yes cache is very important what it does is try to predict the next move you will make or the next instructions you will give it and store a couple possibilities in the L2. mainly so the cpu wont have to go all the way to memory to get the information. so yes it increases the performance of computer..... hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I think some of the original celerons didn't have any L2 cache... or they could have had very little... but I think they didn't have any. Anyway, they were ssssllllooooowwwww compared to the same speed P3. Cache and what speed it runs at is very important to processor power.

Yes, the first Celeron had no cache. It was quickly updated. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
