Just my freakin' luck, I purchased a SATA HDD, just received it in the mail, I install it in the drive bay then noticed there isn't a 4-pin power section on this drive, I can't use the SATA 15-pin becuase the way the drive bay is situated, the HDD stands vertical when you lay the pc on it's side, by inserting the 15-pin power connector, this protrudes a little too much outside the bay so I can't close the pc cover, with the 4-pin, it fits lower into the pwoer section so no problem there, to sum it up the 15-pin needs to be shorter for me to close the cover, any magic tricks anyone?

p.s. The bay is not removable so I can't lay the bay on it's side, only fix I can see is if there was some type of bracket adapter I could use on the HDD itself to fit the HDD into the bay which holds the optical drives?

It sucks that you have such a weird case. Is this an older one from long ago? :p

if there was some type of bracket adapter I could use on the HDD itself to fit the HDD into the bay which holds the optical drives?Yes, this would probably be the best option, both for mounting and cooling. These brackets are plentiful in old computer deathnells, like schools and used PC shops. Even if you do have to pay $10 for a set, it would be worth it to have for future use.

No, actually this a newer HP dc7600 powerhorse, still under warranty. I think what I need is some sort of adapter bracket which will fit as an optical drive or I will have to cut the bay, improvise and place the HDD in a horizontal position.

Why not just get a right-angle SATA power adapter, then?

Yep, ordered it already, thanks.
