Are the system timer (IRQ-0), the system clock, the clock speed and clock rate are referencing the same component?

Nope...not sure if I can explain it all, but they are different things. I'll try though...

System timer and System Clock I think are the same, but not sure. Basically a clock. The timer is what keeps track of the synchronization of the flow of data, and tells the CPU to wait one "cycle" before it sends more data, so the periferal can keep up.

Clock speed is the "Front Side Bus" or the speed at which the motherboard communicates with everything, in MHz.

Clock Rate is the speed at which the CPU communicates, in multiples of the Clock Speed. If the clock speed is 66MHz and you have a 200MHz CPU the clock rate will be 3X the clock speed.

Then again I might have all these totally confused, If I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I don't have all my books handy, and have always been a bit confused abot the different clock rates going on inside the computer, and the different names they go by.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
