my HDD suddenly just stopped working and i haven't found a way to fix it. Ive downloaded a couple of programs that say the HDD is good, but i just cant manage to either get it working or recover my data.
i tried to manufacturer's software too and it wasnt able to perform a scan.
what should i do?

the hdd wont show up on disk managment either so i cant mount it =S
i dont even wanna think im gonna lose my stuff!!
should i get pro help or is there anyone here that can help me out ?

If you have a FDD...
Make this bootable floppy (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=52472).
Boot it and run partinfo to save your partition info to the info.txt file...
Then post the text from that info.txt file here.
I don't know if I will be able to make any sense of the info, but someone might; Paul Komski certainly will.

Did you use the SeaTools utility from the Seagate website - that would be one of the better apps to test out the drive with. Is this a second or third drive and if so is it an internal or an external drive since if you can see the disk management console it seems you must be able to run windows OK from somewhere.

The PartInfo may well be very useful but you might also like to see if you can visualise any devices with a Knoppix Live CD (link in my sig). If so you may also be able to recover your data in a straightforward manner.

The more specific info the better.
