Hello everybody. Here's a little conundrum for you.

I bought a couple of ex office black PC cases at an auction recently. The idea being to do them up and lend them to people who can't be without a PC while I look at theirs.

The build went fine, but I was a little surprised when I found a cable leading from (what appears to be) a firewire port on the front panel. The cable is thick and black with what looks like some sort of USB pin on the end. The sort of cable I would expect to see on the outside of the case, not inside.

I have no idea who makes this case. There is no makers mark anywhere.

These cases are ex-office I believe and have, I suspect, been built especially for that purpose. Possibly hence the strange cable ?

I don't like mysteries and I really don't like cables that don't go anywhere ! . I've attempted some photos, quality questionable - see if you work out what this mysterious cable could be for !

The cable connects to the slot second from left...

Cable at bottom of case....with strange pin....

Odd isn't it ?

Firewire ends on both ends
it looks like an attempt to use a back firewire plug in the front or off an add-in card

If you do not plan to put a firewire card in these cases, remove the cable, mark it so three years from know you'll remember what it is and save it for the rainy day you decide to add firewire to one of these cases.
