i have a problem transfering a real media file from my 2.5' external hardisk from my win XP to another computer(win vista). after copy the real media file, and transfer to another computer, the video quality seems to drop and the real media file will shut down automaticly in the middle of playing. if from window vista transfer to win xp using the external hardisk, no problem. so my question is, why the file quality drop, issit my win xp setting or my hardisk problem?

i have tried using a thumb drive, no problem.

i use a dvdrw media, no problem.

i use a cdrw, no problem

i have tried format the disk in different type like ntfs, fat32 even all types of file allocation size. non of this help.

any ideas?

thanks

It's a "feature" of Windows Vista. Solution: don't use Vista.

The file may be corrupting during the transfer onto the Vista system
If the external drive is USB
Try another cable

If you copy using the same external drive from vista to XP and it doesn't affect the file then it's not the cable or the drive.
It may have something to do with vista drivers for the usb

Try getting another driver .
If you can find one for that chip set.

if you updated the drivers before it started doing this.
Then use the role back feature in device manager
