Modem Testing

I have a few Modems and I'd like to know of a recommended way to test them.
Is Hyper Terminal a good source?

Best way to test a modem is with the Phone Dialer. Open Phone Dialer, type in a phone number and click Dial. If the modem tries to dial out, it works. If it doesn't, try the next one...
