More detailed specs, please...especially the size of the drive and the current version of Windows that you are running.

Hi theopesta,
From my understanding Microsoft XP requires at least 1.5 gig of free space on a hard drive. But it will use much more to run itself and any applications. Is the size of your drive correct? 4.64 gig?
It might install and it may actually run but not well and you will get drive full messages if you try to run any applications or programs.
I personally would not install XP on anything less than a 10 gig hard drive and that's stretching it.
You might try Windows 98 or even Windows 2000, I've run both of those fairly well on a small drive.
Best Wishes,
LG

If you have that small of a drive, then the 'swap file' (virtual memory) is most likely the culprit. Since a full install of XP will eat a couple of gigs all by itself any programs you install will reduce the amount of space on the drive to a point that any time the swap file grows beyond the default minimum value, the free space will hit the 'critical' limit and start pumping out the 'drive full' warnings. The only solution is to increase the amount of drive space available...as turning off the swap file is not an option (more problems than benefits...).

Lady Gray: A lot of thanks; actually, I my PC in the beginning was Win 98; but, I turned it to Microsoft XP as, I understand it is more advantageous.

Mjc: I'd appreciate your help. How could I increase the drive space; I removed many programmes. What is present now is the most necessary.
Can I diffuse drive c with other drive ?
Kindly Regards to all of you

My installation of XP PRO is 9 gigs for that partition and all my documents, music, videos etc are stored elsewhere. I can't even see how it has been possible to run XP on such a small drive! I once tried to do it on a 6 gig and was getting errors immediately after installing SP-2

Your best bet is to get a new hard drive and migrate the installation from the old to the new drive using the manufacturer's utilities of the new drive. When you get one, you can then download their softwares.

This is an easy one, Microsoft saw this coming from miles away.

Get a newer, bigger drive. Install it and format it. Then enable dynamic disk in disk management and you can stripe the two drives together into one drive array. No need to go through migration.
