I've seen this go stepping around and can't find much about it all i know is it uses less power when not used and that you probably want it for overclocking. so any info would be nice and how do i tell if a CPU has it thanks

yes it does help with OC'ing..... less power -> less heat -> more speed.

well i see on newegg they don't tell you if it has it or not so how can you tell and is it real important in performance

to tell
A) it will say like with the new Q6600 it has "SLACR Stepping"
