Can you use the CD-ReWriters for normal CD uses, in addition to recording MP3's? In other words; Can I use it to load windows 98 on my machine and later, record my favorite Napster download? Thanks

Yes, CD rewriters can be used for playing discs (data, games, audio). However I would not use this as a common practice as they like any CD reading or writing device the laser within it has a defined life span.

Sure you can use your CDR as a mormal CD-ROM... you can burn your music if you wish around 11 hours of mp3...the only thing it can't do is use a CDRW disk on a normal CD_ROM most if not all will not read it

You can go to Adaptec's web site and they have a UDF driver that will allow a CD-rom to read CDRW disk. But the CD-ROM must be a "new" one. ( I'm guessing their idea of new is any cdrom made in the last 2 years???)

The CD rom must be a 'Multi read' which are supposedly the newer variety, but not all New ones are multiread, check this beforehand if you intend purchase.
