i've recently upgraded from an x600 xt to an x1300 512 mb, and have noticed a large decrease in performance, rather than increase, which is strange because the x1300 is better. my computer runs slower overall now, and lags much more during games. any help or ideas as to how i can fix this problem or what may be going wrong?
also, the drivers are up to date.
my specs are:
alienware area-51
3.2 ghz intel pentium 4
1.5 GB ram
x1300 512 mb

which is strange because the x1300 is better. No it's not. The X1300 is actually slightly worse. That's why your game performance decreased. You went from a mid-range vid card to the next gen's low-end - so you lost performance. This is to be expected.
Is it too late to return that X1300 for a real vid card?

hmm, i see what you mean. that sucks, and yeah, i think it's too late for me to return it. damn. i may just buy a new one. what do you recommend for a reasonable price? nothing dx10, but im thinking dx9 prices will decrease since dx10's out now, right? so maybe i can get a pretty good dx9 card for a good price. i hope.

Check out my own little rant (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=58876) on the subject, as well as my top picks. You'd be most interested in a GeForce 7950 GT or Radeon X1950 Pro right about now. ;)
