I am trying to find out all the functions of msrating.dll file. I know it is part of Internet Explorer 3.01, on up to 5.5. I know it has to do with Content Advisor. I know if I rename msrating.dll, or delete it, Content advisor is all greyed out and is not accessable.
Many of you know I work for an ISP. Currently, whenever someone has a problem with content advisor, whether it gets turned on and they don't know the password, to it being corrupt, we have to send them away to get it fixed, because we cannot touch the registry. We can help them disable it if it is working properly, but if they don't have the password of it if stops functioning properly, they are stuck paying to get it fixed. (the isp I work for provides free tech support, 6am to midnight, and hold time is kept under 5 minutes almost year round, but holidays get tight).
Anyway, I am trying to prove to the head of the tech center that this is a valid fix, to simply rename that file. Obviously that disables Content advisor completely, but most people don't want content advisor, seeing as how most web pages don't support it anyway.
If any of yall have any more info about say, any other programs that might try to use msrating.dll, or it you know anything more about this file, or about the content advisor outside of the registry, please respond.
Thanx
