Hi everyone,
I have a P4 3.06 Mhz, 2 Gb RAM, 2 HDD
running Win 2003 Server
for file and printer services
previously it had a RAID controller card for the 2 HDD until we decided that we needed more disk space and eventually reinstalled and reconfigured the system... now without the controller.
That's when I started having problems with the disks.
every once in while system halts... associated with the server's error message on disk controller...
At other times, which occured in batches more than twice now,
during a logon session with server, the system restarts suddenly, with no OS indication( similar to just pressing restart)
and accompanied thereafter by more than a few failed power on self test at restart ( so i have a loop of restarts, the system on its own doing) with the OS not being able to load at all...
at this point i'd usually try to shutdown the server for a couple of minutes, then try to boot up... which doesn't always return a successful boot
I've recently replaced the SATA cables, just to isolate what was indicated by the windows help, however it did not solve the problem...
I've also moved the tower to a cooler place, a couple of months before i tried to replace the SATA.
Additionally, there have been cases when...
-Of course, the monitor powers down automatically on its own after 20 min.
however there have been times when
as I try to move the mouse( the monitor turns on ) -> it results to a system halt
btw i define halt like this (monitor on, display is good, but can't move mouse, and the HDD led is firmly lighted, not blinking at all
I'm praying for divine intervention now...
help anyone?
