Hey my girlfriend told me she accidentally uninstalled her audio device.

I think the only way to get it back is through the disk that came with her PC but.. she doesn't have it. Is there a way to get it reinstalled online?

You guys will probably need computer information... where do I get it? :\

You might want to have a look in Device Manager...it might list it under Sound, Video and Game controllers.

Which OS?

If XP you might want to try Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information.

If in Device Manager there are any "Unknown Devices" listed...
Use the FREE Unknown Device Identifier v5.02 (http://www.zhangduo.com/unknowndeviceidentifier.html) to identify them, and then use it to help find a suitable driver.

To get info on software & hardware...
Get System Information for Windows [SIW] (http://www3.sympatico.ca/gtopala/about_siw.html).
This is a "Portable Application", which means it is not installed , no settings put in the registry, can be run from anywhere that Windows can access [floppy disk, Flash Drive, USB HDD, etc], and gives very comprehensive list of info.
e.g. See screenshot below of SIW display of "Sound, video and game controllers".

Alright.

Her computer is running XP.

Here's a picture (below) of what I see in device manager. Nothing seems to be wrong under the Sound, video and game controllers section. But do you see the PCI Device that has a yellow (!) on it? Could that be anything?

What do I do now? Is there any system information you guys need to further the fixing process?

...other than there is no sound card showing up (but we knew that :D)...

The mysterious PCI device may be the sound card, but that still doesn't give us enough info... :(

Use Sylvander's link to the Unknown devices program. Report back with what it says.
