I'm curious about how disk BIOS enhancements like EZ-BIOS (& MaxBlast) work.
First of all, where exactly on disk do they reside? Are they stored in the MBR (as part of the master boot code)? Or, is it in the volume boot code at the start of a partition?
Then, once loaded, where are they in memory? And, are they OS-specific? (that is, does it respond to system calls only from Windows, for example?)
And, what exactly do they do while they're running?
I know, many questions. I've checked Maxtor's customer support web site, butit doesn't go into the detail I'm interested in.
Thanks!
