AGP

I have a Amptron PII motherboard and I was considering upgrading my video card to something like a GeForce Card, I have a STB Glyder Max AGP card I'm using right now.
I understand tell me if I'm wrong, that there are different kinds of AGP slots or versions. Can anyone fill me in on that?
