Hi Guys.
Dropper.Small Trojan found by AVG A-S.
I'd be ever so grateful for some expert advice on removing it if it is malware.
Here's my Hijack-this log.
Many thanks guys.

If it helps, AVG states 2 traces of it in system restore files - will happily copy AVG log file if its required. Many thanks in advance!
If it helps, AVG states 2 traces of it in system restore files...
Good rule to follow...
After cleaning an infection, clear the System Restore folder, completely, and create a new restore point.

Did AVG say it removed it? Your log looks OK. How is your system running......
TopChip7

No. I didnt let AVG do anything other than scan the system on the understanding that its best to leave it alone until your expertise has been applied ;)
If the logs looks clean it may be that I stopped it executing if AVG AV issued a warning during the download.
The system itself seems fine, however IEv7 occassionally freezes and will not let me close it - at this point it will not let me open Task Mgr or use windows to shut down. Generally I hit the reset button and this fixes the problem.
Please excuse my dimit ignorance but how do I delete System Restores?
As always.... Exceptionally grateful for all your advice!

Sorry, just to clarify......
I dont want to delete System Restores that are not infected. The system restore files issued by AVG AS are followed by long code/memory location? within these brackets {}. Is it possible just to delete the 2 locations listed rather than all of them?

1) Run the AVG scan. Put anything it finds into the vault or quarantine.
2) Report back exactly what files are infected.

To delete all the restore points on your computer, disable and re-enable system restore on the system. Click Start, Control Panel, and then the System icon. Click on the System Restore tab in the dialog box, select the Turn off System Restore check box, and click Apply. Clear the check box again to re-enable System Restore and then click OK.
Re-run the AVG scan. If all you get is tracking cookies. Re-enable system restore and set a restore point for the system as is.

I believe tracking cookies are not generally dangerous so I have deleted those. The trojan Dropper.Small has been quarantined.
Re-ran AVG-AS and nothing found. Have deleted all of the system restores and in process of re-running AVG AS now.

I LOST THE LOT!!!!! OMG !!!!!!! ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Last night the system was absolute fine. Switched it off and went to bed.
This morning I switched it on..........
Got to windows log-in and logged on.
Windows booted in as per usual until it got to the point where it should have started loading AVG etc.....
Then nothing........
Tried again....... same happened again and again
Tried to boot in safe mode.... same
Obviously too late now, have had to do complete re-install (atleast my personal files are safe, kept all photos & music etc on a seperate drive) but can anyone shed some light on what went wrong???
