Wireless connection slows system performance

When i connect to a specific wireless network, my entire system slows down. For example, if I am on this specific network, the performance hit is such that moving from cell to cell in a spreadsheet takes a matter of seconds. If I disable the wireless conncetion performance is par again. This only happens on one specific wireless network. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Incoming traffic overburdening your system?? What firewall do you use and does it block incoming traffic from the network? Is this a network you have legitimate access to?
