Hi

Please can someone advice me what to do. I have a most annoying problem with Windows XP. When my wife and I are both looged in at the same time and she then logs out I am then unable to retrieve my emails. I am using outlook express and as soon as she logs out and I then go to to retrieve emails I get error messages in Outlook express. I then have to reboot the computer so that I can send and receive emails.
Thanks in advance

So why aren't you mentioning what the exact error message is, it would help?

Is she switching user or logging off?

You are quite correct TomTom it would help wouldnt it? Sorry about that.
The error messase that appears in the outlook express send and receive window is:

"The connection to the account has failed. Account "account name". Server mail.btinternet.com. Protocol POP3, Port 110 Secure (SSL). No socket error 10061, error number 0X800CCC0E"

The only time that this error message appears is on the occasions that when after being both logged on at same time, my wife then logs off and then I, via my own user account, go to check my emails with outlook express. If she does not log off and we both remain signed in then there is no problem with errors, it is only when she logs of. As previously stated we both have administrator type user accounts.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Paul

It occurs when after we have been logged on at the same time she then logs off and I, via my user account, check my mail via outlook express. It does not occur if we remain logged in. The error message in outlook express is:

"The connection to the account has failed. Account "account name". Server mail.btinternet.com. Protocol POP3, Port 110 Secure (SSL). No socket error 10061, error number 0X800CCC0E"

Many thanks in advance

Follow the troubleshooting tips here...

http://www.domainavenue.com/support_oe6_0x800ccc0e.htm (substitute mail.btinternet.com for the mailserver listed in step 2)
