I'm running home edition of XP and internet explorer 7 but I would like to know how to go and find out how much ram I'm am using or have used up, I know I have 1g of ram but not sure how much I have used up?
CTRL ALT DELETE
will bring up windows task manager
Click on the Performance tab
It has the info you want
RAM doesn't get 'used up'...what is being used is constantly changing, depending upon what you are doing with your machine at any given moment. It is the active memory for whatever programs you are running. Whenever you turn off your computer the contents of the RAM are 'dumped' and the full 1GB is available the next time your push the power button.
The area to be concerned with would be the hard drive, not the RAM...and most modern machines have fairly decent sized hard drives, usually over 100 GB (and many of the newest machines are over 200 GB). Hard drives are permanent storage.

Essay. Compare and contrast "in use" and "used up".
