If I change my wireless for a wired router I have to setup my cable modem again.
As for programming, just follow the directions on the install cd and the manul.

You should be able to backup the router config file from the router setup page, using that file on a new router im unsure.
Im sure one of the network lads here will help you more than I can.
Your routers are setup once and then can be interchanged freely. I don't recall needing to set up my broadband modem again after swapping them back and forth. If you are buying a new router, yes, it needs to be, for lack of better term, 'initialised'.
They are quite easy to set up with the quick install instructions. If you have any trouble just ask here.
It is not quite a 'Plug and Pray' device. ;)

The answer is it depends on your ISP and their requirements. If you have cable, you can usually swap out routers. If you have DSL and the DSL uses PPPoE, you will need to reconfigure things.....

Along with the ISP requirements, it really depends on what kind of setup you have, or desire to have. Do you have any security set up in the gateway? Are you replacing like for like? If not, are your node adapters compatible with the new?
There are a number of questions to answer in regards to ease of setup. Unless you are willing to run with the doors wide open and all adapters are compliant, I say you will need to set up each machine to the gateway. If you need help configuring and setting up, please provide as much info as you can about each device.
After re-reading, I have other questions. Are you planning to go from wireless to wired? Are you using this router for LAN gaming or internet?
