hi all...i need help...heres the problem....so im running ok in winxp sp2 pro...and i have maybe 4,5 or 6 different windows opened, firefox, msn, some folder, media player, utorrent, etc... and then i suddenly try to run another window/app, for example paint or for that matter any kind of window, if it is an explorer window(internet, or explorer) it shows with no letters or symbols(stop refresh, go back) or if it is paint it says: could not create blank file or something and it doesnt start (paint)....
the moment i try to open these extra windows the "Windows XP critical stop" sound comes on continuously(u can hear it at c:/windows/media/) and in oder for me to work in that window or any other one that was already opened i have to close one of them, when i do close a window/app the bang bang(the sound) stops and everything is ok...i dont know why this happens considering i have a nice system...please help
thank you
For the machine in your sig?
You've listed what kind of memory...but not how much.
Also with MSN...I assume that is Messenger.
What kind of AV do you have running? Background apps?

try running in SAFE mode....
tap f8 to get to the boot menu and select safe mode from the list
(start tapping when you press the power button and do not stop until the boot menu appears- it is a after Bios and POST and before Widows starts: if you get to the windows loading screen, restart)

C2D E6400 @ 3.0GHZ
You're OC'ing. Bring it back down to stock and see if the problem persists.

Saph, what is stock for that processor??
saphalline
10-13-2007, 04:11 PM
E6400 = 2.13 GHz, 1066 FSB
Which probably means the FSB was cranked to 1500 to get it up to a 3 GHz clock speed.

i had a problem like that when OC'ing my E6400...
my advise like saph said bring it down to stock
but you will notice a big difference though... so buy a new CPU if you want more power :p

sorry for the double post but i made a progress...my friend told me to stay under 50 processes running, i got the error again and i looked and i was at 52 proccesses, so i closed some and its alright so far...that seems to be the problem, i also heard of the blackviper service list, that it would be usefull to turn off some services, what can u say about that?
thanks again
Yes, Blackviper's list could be of some help...but if you have that many things running, then posting a HijackThis (http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html) log may be of more help...there is a good chance of some sort of infection lurking in the background.

I agree. A healthy slim WinXP system should have no more than 25-35 processes running at boot (not including any programs you actually want to run at boot). Opening another 5-10 programs shouldn't put you anywhere near 52 processes! Something is most likely wrong.

anyone?????
One thing I noticed is that you are running a RealTek audio manager AND all the Creative audio apps...so which are you actually using? A Creative card or the onboard audio?
Is this (RoxLiveShare9) intentionally installed?
Also, is your Kaspersky AV working properly?
I noticed on Service related to Kaspersky is listed with a missing file...
