Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but...
I've been wondering for a while now - why is it that when I restore from a Backup image file my programs still ask for registration.
For example my mIRC client isn't registered and when I restore it still asks for registration.Shouldn't restoring fix this?

Are you restoring selective parts of the image or the whole image of the partition(s). Ghost can does things in a composite way these days but to avoid the sort of problem you are having you need to go back to a specific point in time with a full "snapshot" or clone of your whole partition(s) made at that moment in time so that the registry and everything else are identical and inter-related.

Yes I restore fully, I have a full image of my C: drive. That is why I'm wondering, because it says sector-by-sector copy and not a partial clone.

"my mIRC client isn't registered and when I restore it still asks for registration"
Was it registered at the time the image was made?
If it isn't registered now, surely it wasn't registered then.
Has it ever been registered at any time?
"it still asks for registration. Shouldn't restoring fix this?"
If a prog was registered [or alternatively not registered] at the time an image was made, then restoring the image would restore that situation.
