Your link doesn't work for me.

Go here (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8250&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=) and expand the "Network" options. You want the second one, "Broadcom - Driver."

This (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R56237&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8250&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=4316&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=66981) should take you right to it.

I had tried the broadcom before posting here, did not work, tried the Intel/100 and that did it, thanks.

Glad you found it, now I'm curious...

Does your PC have two ethernet connections?

No, only one, the on-board.

Dell's driver installation scheme was designed by a 4-year-old! It's so stupid! It gives you multiple driver choices based on model number - there is no detection of any sort. So for the LAN drivers, it gives you like 3 different drivers for 3 different hardware profiles for "Dimension 2350" or whatever. The easiest way to install them all is try them one by one until you find one that installs successfully (ie, no "this hardware is not installed" errors).

Stupid Dell...
