I hope there is an easy fix for this. The Outlook Express on our Dell with XP has never had spell check, saying an error occurred while checking the spelling. I thought this was due to us not having current Word software. I just installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, and really hoped we would now have spell checking for email. What do I need to do for OE to recognize I now have Word, or to otherwise get spellcheck? Any tips? Thanks. Tom

What do your OE help files say on the topic?
Mine says...
"To check the spelling in messages
Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office 95 and Office 97 programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available.
In the New Message window, click the Spelling button on the toolbar, or click the Tools menu, and then click Spelling.
Tip
To customize the way your spelling checker works, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then select the Spelling tab."

I did read the "Help" section and also checked the internet for answers before posting. THe "Help" did not help, and the internet answers referred to something in the registry missing. I assumed that was not the issue since when this problem began, I did not have a newer version of Word. I am hoping there is an easy way to tell OE that I now have Word so it will egin spell checking. If I get no responses, I may have to go into the registry and add some .dll thing that may be missing. Thanks for the sugggestion though. Tom
