Price - Very similar to the initial release costs of the first C2D's.
Release Date - "Soon". :p Last I heard they were still aiming for the end of this year, although availability won't be all that great until early next year. Everyone and their uncle Joe will be upgrading to Penryn! Either that or Barcelona.
Performance - It will be suitably amazing, although not quite as punishing as a P4 vs a C2D at the same clock speed. ;) It will be much better than the performance increase between the 1066 & 1333 FSB's, though. So yes, all in all, it will be a worthwhile upgrade. A no-brainer for anyone who does not yet have a C2D or AM2 X2. And even for those of you who do, if you have an older/slower C2D or AM2 X2, you should really consider a 3 GHz quad-core Penryn for a 2Q08 upgrade. All these issues with Intel's current quad-core designs have been fixed!
