Dear Friends,

I have a new PC ( Core2Duo,2GB,160 GB, WinXP-SP2. When I try to install FireFox the error message says variously "Corrupt file", "Use NCRC (?)but not recommended" etc., I have tried many times with latest version of firefox downloaded from different sources but without success. Is that Microsoft secretly not allowing to install Firefox so that we stick to IE only.
same problem while installing "Avant browser"

Interestingly, Opera could be installed and run.

Request your valued advise please.

Best Regards,

PP Chaukimath

The most reliable source for Firefox:

I have downloaded from this site also.

I suspect the issue is not with firefox program but the behaviour of WinXP/ my antivirus AVG free.

But again I have no problem in installing Opera.

As a temporary stop-gap you could use the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition (http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable).
This doesn't need to be installed, no settings put in the registry.
You can hold it anywhere that Windows can access [USB Flash Drive or USB HDD].
You can still use it once Firefox proper is installed.
