Hi,

This is my 1st post and am requesting for some help.

My PC have 2 OS one is Windows 98 and the other XP.But for the last few days most of the times when I am switching on the machine though the red light blinks it hangs after some time and doesn't boot into the O/S.But after trying few times it used to boot. But from today morning its not booting anymore into the O/S.I tried to boot through CD Rom.It detected my Windows XP and after doing the necessary verifying it shows in the blue screen "Windows Setup" and it hangs then.No movement at all.

Can anyone please guide me how do I format the machine again. There is no fear of losing any data as back up I have already taken. Please help me.

can you F-8 or however to get to cmd - safe mode - last known good - if so you could try last known your machine should keep it stored. or try cmd only type sfc /help and see if any apply to you. or type D:setup and see if it will let you do a repair install of xp. in cmd only you can sfc /scannow notice space between sfc and /. just first thoughts good luck.
