msn messenger running slowly

hi i use msn messenger a lot but usually with one person. when in conversation, most of of the time lately we get a message saying 'network is running slowly' this effects camera and sound quite badly.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a problem with either of our internet providers or msn messenger and any advice on how to solve the problem.
