DOS BIOS screen resolution

Need Help: I got an ASUS W5F notebook with WXP Pro. All of a sudden, the startup POST screen resolution goes to 1024X768 (YES, during POST in DOS MODE). This lasts up to and including the WINDOWS logon screen. When logged in, WXP takes control and resolution goes back to normal, EXCEPT if I open a DOS BOX, there the display goes to 1024X768. Since the numbers of pixels DOS paints is the same, this means a 3" X 3" screen!

I upgraded the bios to latest version and corrected the problem, then a couple of weeks later it appeared again.

I found that by reloading "Factory Values" in the bios it dissapears, but later it comes back to 1024X768 in all DOS screens.

Any ideas will be welcome!!

The Bios may need a new battery
That would account for it forgetting your settings

Also does the keyboard have a Code-Key combo to select the screen and or resolution
