When I try to put my computer (Gateway FX8040 with Vista Ultimate,) the screen goes black and the monitor enters power saving mode, but the computer does not enter sleep mode. This started happening several days ago, before then, it worked fine. Note that this is a fairly new computer, less than a month old. Previously, when I pushed the sleep button, the monitor would go dark and enter power saver mode, the computers hard drive light would stop flashing, the fans would shut down, and the power light would start blinking. Now the power light does not blink, and the hard drive light flickers ocassionally, as though some program were trying to run on it. Is this one of those Windows Vista driver incompatibility problems, or something more serious, like a virus or worm? Any explanation of the problem would be helpful.
