In general, I have been told that the lower the number for dpi the better. I have also heard about some sort of break point btw .25 & .26 -> something about scan lines Vs. Pixels.

In terms of monitor resolution -> I have heard that .25 pitch is the worst of one type of monitor and .26 pitch is the best of another -> and that .26 might actually be better. Is this true??

What are your preferences? Right now I just bought a Proview 19" (17.9" Viewable) .25 pitch monitor for $200. Is this a good price? Would .26 pitch have been better?

I appreciate all of the help!

When I was doing my research for monitors I found this site: www.dansdata.com (http://www.dansdata.com) I believe he's an Aussie and a very knowledgeable one at that. His site explains how those numbers are calculated and what they mean for the differing types of monitors (mainly Aperture Grille and Shadow Masking). It is with the AGP (pitch) that the 0.25 is not very good. On the flip side a Shadow Masking DPI of 0.25 (diagonal) is pretty darn good. The site really does explain the subject very well. I personally stick with Shadow Masking due to the fact that I am one of the people that is bothered by the damper wires (these help stabilize the Grille used in an Aperture Grille type monitor...there are usually two of them).
I have found the Samsung Syncmaster 17" 753DF or the 19" 955DF to be excellent monitors for the price ($230 & $280 respectively).
I'm not familiar with the Proview so I can't comment there.
