A 'streamed song' (streaming media') is left on the server and your option to play it is merely a link. Does this computer have a fast internet connection when you try to play the song? Has the link been deactivated or moved? Do you have popup blockers or Javascript blockers as part of your internet security such as your browser, firewall etc?
You may need to contact someone at Napster

You may need to contact someone at NapsterYes it does have a fast internet connection,I do have pop up blockers and those pop up blockers or firewall have never affected the service I have always been able to play streams until now.I have had this service since August and never had trouble playing streams. I've contacted them and they have given me some things to try but those solutions didnt work.I still cannot play streams.

Oh, I'm also using WMP 10.
I asked because some ISPs do limit certain things, like peer to peer, streaming, etc...
Also, if you are using a firewall, have you reset or updated anything lately, because the settings may have changed and the ports that were being used are no longer 'open'. I would check the settings to make sure that WMP is not now being blocked.

also, WMP has been updated ( to 11 )- try updating it to the newest version- Napster may have discontinued support for WMP 10... unlikely (since WMP 11 came out in 06 or 07- i forget which), but it doesn't hurt anything to upgrade... ;)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspxI've tried a few things on my own,and uninstalling napster and reinstalling was 1 thing and that didn't clear up the problem, also uninstalled WMP 10 and tried WMP 11 but it wouldnt download cause I don't have windows XP service pack 2,just windows XP home edition.. Also they state before you download napster, that you have WMP 10 installed on your computer.

Which firewall and does it have an auto-update feature?McAffee. I believe it does.
I've seen it happen before that settings get changed when an update comes out...so don't entirely discount the fact that the firewall is the culprit...yet.

PC Only, Windows Vista/ XP/2000, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.asp) or higher, Windows Media Player 7.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp) or higher, Internet connectivity
Note: Windows Vista or XP and Windows Media Player 10 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx) or higher are required to use the Napster To GoTM service.
XP home edition should be upgraded to SPk2- just go to
http://www.windowsupdate.com/
and download ALL the "CRITICAL UPDATES"- these updates solve SOME compatibility problems with windows and Napster may have upgraded its service to no longer support SPK1

sadly, no
however, it may take UP to 10 hrs depending on connection speed..
and all other updates will take longer
Then you have to go BACK and do another update to completely update your system...

you have 56k?
ouch....
it will probably be only a nights worth of downloading.
so it should be done by now...
As for your NAPSTER problem, it may not solve it (but i think it will), but not having SPK2 is a very BAD thing- SPK2 adds so much to XP and fixes XP so much and closes so many holes in the security, that it is like a completely different OS...
Your computer will run much smoother, faster and will not crash as often!

Your computer will run much smoother, faster and will not crash as often!Well downloading XP SP2 was a waste of time cause when it got to 188 MB a message popped up and said the application that was DL'ing was not valid. I tried something else with napster. I tried downloading a song waited for it to finish downloading, and clicked play and now it plays.

where where you downloading it from...
the official website right?
and you have automatic updates turned on right?
in the next few days, you will get a pop-up saying that your computer needs to restart and it will install SPK2
And glad you got the NAPSTER THING working- will add that to my list of "simple solutions"

Yes I have automatic updates turned on as well. Really? Ok I will watch for that pop up. Yes I got it working but I got like 500 or more tracks 2 download in my library so it will be awhile before I can actually play a list with no stupid ass messages popping up. Thanks for your help.
I do not know 4 the life in me why napster didnt just tell me to download the track then try playing it.
