Do you mean Transmission control protcol?

If so it is usually the TCP/IP - these are a group of protcols that the internet uses. A computer to computer communications protcols, that e-mail,file transfer, etc uses. TCP/IP is support by a large number of hardware & software manufactures & is avaiable on computers from pcs to mailframes.

I hope this makes sense.

Mainframes is the correct term.
