I want to import and export the contacts and calendar folders between my work and home PC. One uses Outlook 2003 and the other Outlook 2007.
When I try to import a 2007 calendar.pst file into 2003 I get a message stating it is not a .pst file.
Are these software not backwards and forwards compatible?
Thanks

Nope...2003 will not handle 2007 items, and 2007 has severe restrictions on what it will actually be able to use from any other previous version...not everything is movable.

Suppose that true forward compatibility is only ever achievable if the future (both hardware and software-wise) is known.
One of my pet hates with MS utilities generally is how often their upgrades are not compatible (or just difficult to configure) with the data from previous versions. It happens all the time - the first one I remember encountering was trying to use MSbackup files from WinME on Win2K.
It's one of the problems with using the Office Suite generally and Outlook in particular.

Review this Microsoft post (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP012319871033.aspx) for help. Some of these tips might work for your Calendar PST file. Worth a look.
Good luck :)

Guys,
Thanks for the help. I have also been pointed to the following URL @ MS.

It doen't explicitly state OUTLOOK, but I am told it works for it.
